Dr. Njiru-Sewer's journey to medicine is a testament to her unwavering belief that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. From her childhood in Kenya, where she witnessed the stark realities of limited access to care, to her current practice in Maryland, her path has been driven by a deep-seated passion for serving the underserved. A Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician, she provides comprehensive care to both children and adults, bringing a unique blend of compassion and expertise.
Her medical education at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in rural Appalachia, followed by a transformative residency at The Wright Center, National Family Medicine Residency Program, stationed at Unity Health Care in Washington D.C., solidified her commitment. Working within a Federally Qualified Health Center, she served diverse populations, including the homeless, during the challenging years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her dedication and leadership during this time earned her prestigious accolades, including the AFMRD Family Medicine Resident Award for Advocacy, the Janelle Goetcheus Servant Leader Award, and Resident of the Year, culminating in her role as Chief Resident.
Dr. Njiru-Sewer continued her service at Unity Health Care, where she demonstrated her innovative spirit by spearheading a Dermatology Procedure clinic and integrating advanced wound care into her practice, expanding access to crucial specialized services, something she hopes to continue here at BCH. Beyond her professional dedication, she finds joy in an active lifestyle, film, comedy, and cherished moments with loved ones. She is excited to bring her passion for comprehensive Family Medicine to Bay Community Health, where she will continue to advocate and care for her patients.
