Our Medical Providers

Nyediang Ateghang, BSN, FNP

Ms. Nyediang Ateghang is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Wayne University and another in Nursing from Rodgers, The State University. Ms. Ateghang also holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. Nyediang has experience with patients of all ages. Her clinical experience includes performing physical examinations, diagnostic tests, and screening evaluations; providing patient education; identifying health problems and developing treatment plans; women’s wellness; and education and administration of birth control. Prescribing medications requires a working knowledge of various pharmacology agents. As a responsible prescriber, Nyediang uses this knowledge base to monitor patients for desired treatment of their health complications as well as educate them on potential side effects. Professionally and clinically, Nyediang is a true contributor to the primary care team at Bay Community Health.

Nancy Bryant, RN, BSN, MSN, MPA, CRNP

Family Medicine for Adults and Children
Location: West River

Nancy Bryant has been practicing medicine since 1977 and has been with Bay Community Health since 2000. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner earning her degrees from The Catholic University of America and Georgetown University. Nancy treats patients of all ages with a special interest in pediatrics.

Xin Paul Chen, MD

Internal Medicine
Clinic Director
Dr. Chen has been practicing medicine since 2013. He has done both inpatient and outpatient internal medicine during that time. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. Growing up all over Texas, Dr. Chen completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin and obtained his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine where he was also a Chief Resident. Before coming to BCH, Dr. Chen worked for the US Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense taking care of Veterans and those in active duty military service.

Gabriel Wilson, FNP-BC, MSN, APRN, BSN, RN

Gabriel, affectionately known as Gabe is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Bay Community Health, certified in the State of Maryland. Gabe earned his Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty from Chamberlain University. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Shippensburg University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University.

Gabe joined the Bay Community Health primary care provider team in 2022. Gabe’s health care experience crosses over several medical specialties and environments, including emergency care, post-surgical care, home care, pain management and the correctional system. His ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary environments equips him with the tools needed to serve the patients of our Federally Qualified Health Center, many of which come from underserved areas and may not otherwise have access to care. Gabe is a strong healthcare professional with a passion for providing high-quality patient care to patients of all ages.

Lenisha Paige, PA-C

 Lenisha Paige is a Physician Assistant, licensed in the State of Maryland. She joined the Bay Community Health team as a primary care provider in 2022. Lenisha holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the School of Public Health at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the College of Medicine at Pennsylvania State University, Hershey. Lenisha has experience in family medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, women’s health, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioral health. Lenisha has a versatile set of skills to care for patients of varying acute needs.

Lenisha has a primary interest in preventative medicine for all. She takes pride in being able to serve a diverse and inclusive community. She believes that through education and shared decision-making, she can empower her patients to take an active role in their healthcare, thus, improving their physical and mental wellbeing.

Andrew Powell, PA-C

Andrew Powell is a Physician Assistant, licensed in the State of Maryland. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Neuroscience Option from The Pennsylvania State University where he also minored in Biology. He earned his Physician’s Assistant degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Andrew has a particular interest in orthopedics, having worked as an Orthopedic Technologist prior to attending PA school.
His clinical expertise is broad, spanning from work in hospitals and private outpatient healthcare settings. Andrew has a passion for providing access to quality healthcare that is also affordable and has dedicated his career to practicing medicine in underserved areas. As part of the primary care team of Bay Community Health, Andrew sees patients ages 18 and older.

Kristen W. Richards MS, CPNP-PC

Kristen is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in children from birth to 21 years old. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Towson University and a Master of Science, specializing in Pediatric Primary Care from University of Maryland, Baltimore. Her special interests include school readiness, infectious disease, and pediatric mental health. Kristen enjoys PBS Kids and keeping our sticker collection up to date. Bay Community Health is pleased to have Kristen as a part of our medical team to provide focused, quality care to our pediatric patient population.

Ndidi Obichere, DO, FAAP

Dr. Obichere is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and has been practicing medicine since 2012.
She has worked in both the public and private healthcare sectors. Dr. Obichere grew up in the Northwest Washington, DC and Silver Spring, MD area. She completed her undergraduate education at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA and medical degree at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, OH. She completed her residency at Nova Southeastern University and Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL. At commencement, she received the Resident of the Year award. Before coming to BCH, Dr. Obichere worked at FQHCs in Maryland where she cared for underserved families. She enjoys reading, theater and exercising.

Our Behavioral Health Providers

Narlie Bedney, LCPC

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
Location: West River and Shady Side

Ms. Bedney has been a provider at BCH since June of 2019. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland and is National Board Certified. Prior to joining BCH, Ms. Bedney provided therapy to adolescents, adults, couples and families. Additionally, Ms. Bedney was a Crisis Services Manager where she provided emotional support and referral sources to survivors of sexual assault. Ms. Bedney is skilled in providing crisis interventions, substance abuse treatment planning and clinical assessments. As a current member of Postpartum Support International, Ms. Bedney holds a certification and specializes in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder.

Amanda Court, Ph. D, LCPC, CMPC, NCC

Location: West River

Amanda Court, Ph. D, LCPC, CMPC, NCC has been with Bay Community Health as a behavioral health therapist since 2022. Dr. Court has doctorates in Leadership in Education for Changing Populations and Psychology, as well as master’s degrees in clinical Mental Health Counseling and Education from Northwestern University and Notre Dame of Maryland University. She also holds certifications in Peak Performance, Certified Mental Performance Consultant, Holistic and Integrative Health. She focuses on peak performance, holistic mental health, and adolescent therapy. Dr. Court leads community workshops on parenting, mental health, and peak performance.

Before gaining her clinical degree, Dr. Court held significant leadership roles, including Director of Curricula for Mental Health First Aid at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, Chief Wellness Officer & Deputy Director of Occupational Health Environment Safety at the National Security Agency, where she directed comprehensive wellness programs and occupational health and safety initiatives. Dr. Court also serves as adjunct Psychology faculty to both Capella University, and Anne Arundel Community College. She is committed to advancing mental health and wellness at both individual and community levels.

Anthony Hall, LCSW-C

Chief Behavioral Health Officer
Location: West River

Mr. Anthony Hall is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. He holds Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Bowie State University and a Masters of Social Work from the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work. Mr. Hall has both clinical and supervisory expertise in the field of behavioral health. Clinically, he is experienced with conducting mental health needs evaluations and substance abuse assessments, counseling in both the individual and group settings, coordination of care, and the delivering community support services. Mr. Hall has proven to be a leader in his field, holding positions as clinical manager and director; roles where he provided training to staff and consumers, supervised clinical staff and managed clinical caseloads. Currently, Mr. Hall is also the Director for the Department of Behavioral Health Community Response Team in Washington, DC where he developed the framework for the expansion of behavioral health care for the entire city. As a therapist here at BCH, Mr. Hall brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to add to our behavioral health provider team.

Christy Lewis, LMSW, CGP

Christy Lewis is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the State of Maryland. Christy earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Social work from Elizabeth City State University. She earned a Master of Science in Social Work at The University of Maryland-Baltimore. Christy has experience in various roles to include counseling, case management, crisis response intervention, as well as family interventionist and support services. She has extensive work experience working with children and families in the human services field. As a counselor, Christy specializes in trauma counseling, suicide prevention, grief and identifying self and purpose.

As a part of the behavioral health provider team at Bay Community Health, Christy serves adolescents and adults as a Behavioral Health therapist. 

Bonnie McDonald, LGSW, CACII

Bonnie McDonald is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker and Licensed Addiction Counselor in Washington, DC, and Maryland. Bonnie holds a Bachelor of Social Work from The Catholic University of America and a Master of Social Work from Howard University. Bonnie is well-versed in crisis response intervention and stabilization treatment. In the outpatient clinical setting, Bonnie’s areas of expertise include but are not limited to individual, family and group therapy, mental health assessments, patient advocacy, and case management. Often working with clients of underserved communities, Bonnie executed referrals and collaboration efforts with outside agencies to ensure her clients received access to community resources and services. Bonnie is a Behavioral Health Therapist at Bay Community Health, providing care to adults ages 18 and older.

Gbemisola Mojelope, CRNP, PMHNP-BC

Location: West River

Gbemisola Mojelope is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland School of Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University School of Health Sciences. With more than 15 years in the field, Gbemisola has extensive expertise related to mental health and psychiatric care both as a clinical nurse and a nurse practitioner. While practicing as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Gbemisola has provided individual and group psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management with psychotherapy, and onsite crisis management while demonstrating a commitment to multicultural competencies and working with individuals from underserved populations. These attributes align admiringly with Bay Community Health’s mission. Performing the full range of psychiatric services including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, Gbemisola encompasses all the appropriate skills to care the patients in need at Bay Community Health.

Jana Raup, Ph.D., LCPC

Behavioral Health Therapist

Jana Raup has been a licensed, practicing mental health professional since 1988. She has worked with patients from the community and Bay Community Health (BCH) since 2002 and in 2013 was hired by BCH to develop the Behavioral Health program. Dr. Raup continues to serve as both Director of Behavioral Health and as a BCH therapist. She provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy with children, adolescents, and adults and primarily utilizes cognitive behavioral techniques. Her approach is very interactive with both therapist and client as active participants. Dr. Raup earned her doctorate in mental health counseling from the University of Florida and holds Masters Degrees from Towson University and The Johns Hopkins University. She also has advanced training in clinical counseling and therapy from Johns Hopkins and rehabilitation counseling from Ohio University.

Tanika Wiggins, LCSW-C

Tanika Wiggins holds a Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Tanika has more than 10 years of experience in the behavioral health field providing therapy, case management, substance use treatment services, and advocacy for individuals across the lifespan. She is trained in, and utilizes Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Informed Care in her clinical social work practice. Tanika is passionate about mental health and continues to engage in work to decrease the stigma around mental illness and expand access to education and treatment in marginalized communities.
